A Ferriday man, who killed his girlfriend and then hid her body for two days, pled guilty to manslaughter this morning (Wednesday) in Seventh Judicial District Court in Vidalia.
INTEREST BUILDING IN VIDALIA PORT
Two key issues concerning Vidalia's proposed $15 million port facility were discussed and resolved with the Corps of Engineers during a recent meeting, said Mayor Hyram Copeland.

SESSION 'OVERSHADOWED' BY SHORTFALL
The 2009 session of the state Legislature will be overshadowed by a projected $1.3 billion budget deficit. Speaking at the opening of the session on Monday, Gov. Bobby Jindal said there will be no "easy fixes" for the budget crunch and Riser agreed.
