Monterey girls win 3B track meet

Six Monterey tracksters qualified for the Class B State Meet at the Class B Regionals Tuesday in Ruston.

"The competion was a little tougher this year, but our team is looking forward to State," said Monterey coach Ashley Avery.

The State meet will be held at LSU in Baton Rouge on May 7.

The top three finishers at the regional meet qualified for State.

Chance Cooper won the long jump at 21 feet, 6 inches and finished third in the 300-hurdles with a time of 45.8.

Taylor Morace won the javelin with a throw of 100 feet, 3/4 inches.

Ellen Bairnsfather placed second in the 400-dash with a time of 1:05.6.

Haley Baker was second in the 1600-run at 6:10 and third in the 3200-run with a time of 14:47.

Kristen Russell was second in the 800-run in 2:47.2.

Ariel Hector placed third in the discus with a toss of 78 feet.

Logan Dale was fourth in the triple jump aned Kristen Lipsey placed fourth in the 800-run and will be alternates for the State meet.

Alternates for the boysare Tyler Trant in shot put, John McNeil in 110-hurdles and Elliot Britt in the 3200-run. Elliot, an eighth-grader, ran a time of 11:26. Monterey's girls captured the District 3B championship on April 22 in Delhi.

Kaley Baker placed first in the 1600-run with a time of 6:33.2 and won the 3200-run in 14:27.

Kristin Russell won the 800-run with a time of 2:51.3.

Taylor Morace placed first in the javelin with a throw of 95 feet, 5 inches.

Ellen Bairnsfather won the 400-dash at 1:06 and was third in the 100-dash at 13.52.

Logan Dale won the triple jump with a leap of 28 feet, 9.25 inches, was second in the long jump at 14 feet, 7 inches andwas second in the 300-hurdles at 57.72.

Ariel Hector tossed the discus 80 feet, 8 inches to finish in second place and was also second in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, 1.5 inches.

Reagan Tiffee placed second in the 1600-run at 6:38.

Brooke Baker placed second in the 3200-run at 15:51.

Kristen Lipsey was second in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet and second in the 800-run at 2:54.4.

Jessica McNeil placed third in the high jump at 3 feet, 11 inches and was second in the 100-hurdles at 22.35.

Mollie Simpson placed third in the long jump at 14 feet, 6 inches and was third in the 300-hurdles at 57.72.       

The 400-relay team of Karlee Woodruff, Blake Morace, Reagan Tiffee and Ashley Coco placed third at 1:05.6 

The 1600-relay Team of Ellen Bairnsfather, Logan Dale, Mollie Simpson, and Kristin Russell placed second with a time of 4:48.

Monterey's boys placed second in district.

Chance Cooper won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 5.5 inches and won the 100-dash with a time of 11.8.

He was third in the 300-hurdles at 48.9

Ethan Cannon won the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 6 inches.

Elliot Britt won the 3200-run in a time of 12:26.

Tyler Trant was second in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 4 inches and was third in the discus with a toss of 111 feet.

James Davis placed second in the javelin at 130 feet.

Cole McMillin was third in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 10 inches.

Brett Wright placed third in the 400-dash at 1:02.56.

Ashton Holland was third in the 200-meter dash at 28.16.

Jeffrey Spann placed second in the triple jump at 34 feet, 2 inches.

Drew Lipsey placed third in the 1600-run at 6:33.

John McNeil was third in the 110-hurdles with a time of 19.4.

Connor Moreland was third in the 800-run at 3:02.

Reed Burley placed third in the 3200-run at 15:14.

The 800-relay team of Trent Burley, Rory Hector, Trey Book, and Dillon Smith placed third at 2:08.

The 400-relay team of Jeffrey Spann, James Davis, Justin Stevens, and Ethan Cannon placed second at 52.59 

The 1600-relay team of John McNeil, Drew Brown, Brett Wright, and Ethan Cannon placed third at 4:20.56
