RMC phones busy after celebrity accident

Riverland Medical Center Administrator Vernon Stevens said he was still getting calls Monday morning concerning an auto accident involving Casey Aldridge, Jamie Lynn Spears' boyfriend and father of her daughter.

Aldridge was ejected from his 6,000-pound truck around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday in Tensas Parish on Highway 606 near Lake Bruin after the vehicle flipped over. Two passengers in the car were also thrown from the vehicle, while two others remained inside the truck as it flipped.

Aldridge was originally taken to Riverland Medical Center before being transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson later Sunday

"We were getting calls all day long Sunday from the National Enquirer and others asking about his status," Steven said.

Stevens said he could not give out the Aldridge's name, but could confirm he was treated and released.

Aldridge, who was driving the truck, is believed to have suffered a cracked skull but has been moved out of the intensive care unit at UMC.

Stevens said the Riverland switchboard operator said she got a call from Britney Spears, Jamie's sister, on Sunday asking about Aldridge.

"The operator told Britney that she could not tell her anything," Stevens said. "She said Britney said. 'This is Britney Spears.' Our operator told her she still couldn't give out any information. She said she hung up and the phone rang soon after and the girl said, 'I'm with the national news service and I'm wanting information on Casey Aldridge.' Our operator told her she knew it was the same girl who just called up there."

Aldridge, who just turned 20, was not given a Breathalyzer test. He was ticketed with careless operation of a motor vehicle, which is a traffic misdemeanor.
