Funeral services for Calvin E. Dodd Jr., 80, of Ferriday were held at Young's Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2009, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Wayne Gray officiating.

Interment followed at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Dodd was born September 5, 1928, in Carrolton, MS, and passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.

He was a resident of Ferriday, a retired millwright worker, and a member of Evangeline Baptist Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge where he held office as Governor for two years and Jr. Governor for two years. He served his country in the United States Army in the Air Force Unit.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dodd; father, Calvin Elzie Dodd Sr.; mother, Velma Willoughby Dodd; brother, Talmadge Dodd; sisters -- Lucille Elliott and Sarah Gwin.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Sue and Robert Wright of Ferriday; sons -- Calvin "Buddy" Eugene and Susan "Sue" Dodd of Vidalia, Gary Lynn and Becky Dodd of Atlanta, GA; brothers -- Robert Dodd and William Dodd, both of Ferriday; sisters -- Joann Comeaux of Rayville, Elaine Groleau of Oregon, and Edna Ruth Smith of Oregon. He was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
