Funeral services for Geneva Martin Tarver, 85, of Ferriday were held at Young's Funeral Home Friday, May 22, 2009, 2 p.m. with Bro. Randy Williams officiating.

Interment followed at Cypress Grove cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tarver was born October 15, 1923, in Wisner and passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Larto.

She was a resident of Ferriday, a retired school bus driver until age 70, and she was a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church.

She was a preceded in death by her husband, Albert Leroy Tarver; father, Edward Rufus Martin; mother, Alice Dubell Martin; brothers -- Tom Martin, Willie Green, Luke Martin, Clifford Martin, Jimmy Ukele, Ben Martin; sisters -- Cresslee Berry, Irene Boone, Leta Freeman, Ruby Graves, Etta Mae Swilley.

Survivors include sons -- Wayne Tarver and wife, Brenda, of Ferriday, Charles Tarver Jr., and wife, Jennie, of Wildsville; daughters -- Dewanna Mason and husband, Frank, of Ferriday, Martha Mathews and husband, Quenten Jr., of Clayton; special daughter, Bobbie Tucker and husband, Pat; sisters -- Bessie Lincecum of Ferriday, Merlee Dale of Denham Springs; brothers -- Ralph Martin of Vidalia, Nub Martin of Ferriday; and special sister-in-law, Bea Martin. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons Eddie, Joey, John, Justin, Lee Tarver and Trey Mason.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Alicia Blackledge, Paige Pace, Donna Geneva Tarver, Mindy Murray, Lynda Murry, Buck Matthews, Lucas Blount and Lauren Blount.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hill Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Doty Rd., Ferriday.
