Vikings named all-district

Five members of the Vidalia High baseball team were named to the District 3-3A first team.

Junior pitcher Mason Ozburn, senior first baseman Jake DeWeese, junior utility player Seth Thompson, sophomore outfielder Caleb Vines and junior utility player John Brixey were named to the first team.

Ozburn was 8-6 on the mound for the Vikings and had a 3.91 earned run average. He also hit .311 on the season and had four home runs.

DeWeese hit .360 and also had four home runs.

Thompson led the Vikings with a .366 average and had two home runs.

Brixey batted .289 and had three homers, including two in the postseason.

Vines hit close to .250.

Named to the second team were junior first baseman Ben Parnham, junior second baseman Trey Lille and junior outfielder Seth Barlow.

Freshman catcher Matt Souderes was named honorable mention.
