Story Archives: Aaron's ground work begins in Vidalia

Aaron's ground work begins in Vidalia
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ground work has begun in Vidalia for a new Aaron's Inc. franchise in front of Murphy's USA by Wal-Mart.

Camo Construction of Vidalia is the contractor.

"It's about 8,000 square feet and we plan on it being completed by August," said Mike Grantham of Camo.

Most Aaron's are built near strip centers and stand alone buildings near major shopping in small, medium and large population markets through out the U.S. and Canada, according to the company.

"We're excited about another new business coming to Vidalia," said Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland. "They will be a tremendous asset to the Miss-Lou area. We're beginning to experience a growth period as far as industry and businesses coming to Vidalia and that's because of people working together and making it conducive for them. We're in talks with other businesses and we're also planning on a new municipal complex near Wal-Mart, which we hope to have a proposal on for construction in August."

Black mold in the current City Hall has forced city officials to build a new complex, in which grants from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and other areas are being sought.
