Ferriday High's Lady Trojans' loss was Travis High School's gain.

Alexis Watson, who played basketball at Ferriday High as a freshman, was named the Fort Bend Herald Player of the Year last month.

Watson, who signed a scholarship with Grambling, moved from Houston to Ferriday as a freshman.

She moved back to Houston as a sophomore where she attended Travis High School in Richmond, Texas, which is near Houston.

Travis High was built in 2006.

The Fort Bend Herald is located in Rosenberg, Texas.

Other schools eligible for the Fort Bend Herald All-Area Team are Lamar Consolidated in Rosenberg, Terry High in Rosenberg, Needville High in Needville, Texas and Foster High in Richmond.

Watson averaged 18.4 points and 3.6 steals per game. She finished with 552 points and 108 steals and hit 73 three-pointers. For her two-year career, she scored 1,042 points
