Grand Jury indicts two for murder, one for rape Three persons were indicted by the Concordia Parish Grand Jury on Friday -- two for murder and one for rape.
Indicted were Crystal Mae Gordon for manslaughter in the death of Alex Promise Jr. in Ferriday, Ricardo Dukes for the second degree murder of Frank Holmes in Vidalia and Earl D. Perritt Jr. for forcible rape of a Monterey woman.
Crystal Mae Gordon is accused of fatality stabbing her boyfriend Alex Promise Jr. with a kitchen knife on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008. Her bond was set at $275,000 by Judge Leo Boothe in Seventh Judicial District Court.
According to evidence provided during the magistration of Gordon by Chief Investigator Bobby Sheppard, Gordon admitted to Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office investigator Jack Fletcher that she stabbed Promise, but said she did so in self-defense.
Promise was stabbed one time in the chest, and afterward transported to Riverland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Sheppard said information obtained from Gordon revealed that the two were in the process of breaking up and had an altercation earlier in the day. Gordon reportedly agreed to drive Promise to a location in Ferriday, but said she armed herself with a knife because she feared Promise.
Sheppard said Gordon told investigators that the couple had fought several times during their relationship and when Gordon stopped in front of her grandmother's home at 100 Woodmount St., he allegedly struck her again.
Gordon told police when she attempted to exit the car at her grandmother's that Promise grabbed her and in self-defense she stabbed him.
"She had a bruise of the eye and in the chest area," Sheppard said of Gordon.
When officers arrived at the scene, Sheppard said Promise had "fallen out of the car to the roadway."
The knife believed used in the altercation was found in mud behind Gordon's grandmother's house.
In the other murder case, Ricardo Dukes is accused of stabbing to death Frank Holmes, 50, of Natchez on April 2, 2008, in Vidalia. The two men were reportedly at a social setting on John Dale Dr. when an argument erupted.
Dukes allegedly fatally stabbed Holmes twice in the chest.
Vidalia police investigated the incident.
Holmes reportedly had several defensive wounds on his arms and hands. Dukes was picked up in Natchez a few hours after the confrontation.
Perritt, 37, of 802 Passman Rd., Monterey, was arrested by the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office in October on charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and forcible rape.
The indictment says Perritt "committed forcible rape" on October 19, 2008.
Perritt was previously arrested on a charge of simple rape in 1990 by the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office. He received a three-year suspended sentence and three years of probation on the lesser charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. |
