GOVERNOR SIGNS CONCORDIA BILL -- HB 184 BY ANDERS

Gov. Bobby Jindal signed into law on Tuesday a bill which adds the president of the Police Jury as a member of the Concordia Economic and Industrial Development Board.

THREE PARISH ROADS TO BE UPGRADED

Three parish roads outside Ferriday will be upgraded thanks to a $227,800 state grant, according to Concordia Parish Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington.

AG SAYS FERRIDAY HAS 'NO LEGAL OBLIGATION' TO PAY ATTORNEY

In its second opinion on the matter, released to the public last week, the Louisiana Attorney General says the Town of Ferriday has "no legal obligation" to pay a Baton Rouge attorney for services to former Mayor Sammy Davis Jr., who died in 2006.

CWW EYED AS WATER SOURCE FOR FERRIDAY

Mayor Glen McGlothin, still seeking a resolution to Ferriday's water problem, met with Concordia Water Works District No. 1 officials Monday night.

EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE FUNDING AT FOREFRONT IN LEGISLATURE

State Rep. Andy Anders said he is still hopeful lawmakers will spare at least some proposed cuts to higher education and healthcare, but with the session winding to a close, legislators find their options pretty limited.
