Funeral services for Mrs. Belle M. Starr, 96, of Vidalia and Natchez, were held at Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 11 a.m. with Bro. Gordon Finlay, Bro. Don Tate and Pastor Ray Varnado officiating.

Interment followed at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Mrs. Starr was born January 22, 1913, in Hope, AR, and passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Ferriday.

She was a resident of Vidalia and Natchez, a homemaker and a member of First Church of God (Anderson, IN) Ferriday.

She was preceded in death by husbands, J. T. McClerkin and Luther Starr; parents, Rev. Andrew Wilson and Bessie Mae Hamilton; sister, Marie H. Dubose; and sons -- John Hamilton McClerkin and Nevins Eugene McClerkin.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley M. McClerkin of Vidalia; granddaughter, Vickie M. Torrey and husband, Bill, and their family -- Michael Torrey and wife, Heather, children, Calum and Hayden Torrey and Jennifer Bennett and husband, Malcolm, and their children, McNeil and Bella; granddaughter, Dianna L. Crowson and husband, Ronnie, and their family -- Jessica T. Whittington and Adam and children, Justin Adam and Jordan Lee, Terri L. Curtis and daughter, Lauren, Cristy A. Crowson, Ronnie B. Crowson, Jr., and children, Connor, Blake, Evan and Brenna; son, Clifton W. Starr and Barbara of Vidalia; granddaughter, LaShaye Parker and husband, Matt, and their children, Shawn, BriAnna, Gaby and Sydney Parker; grandson, Jody Starr and wife, Kristen, and their family -- Dylan, Kayla, Marissa and Braden; sisters -- Irene S. Reid of Sun City, AR, and Jewel Adams Heblon of Mobile, AL. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Crowson, Bill Torrey, Adam Whittington, Malcolm Bennett, Tim Duncan, Pat Dubose, Wes Bolin and Milton Whittington.
