Funeral services for Mr. Hershel H. Wilson, 95, of Vidalia were held today, Wednesday, June 24, 2009, 10 a.m. at Vidalia Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Varnado officiating.

Burial was held at 3:30 p.m. at Village Methodist Cemetery in Village, AR, near Magnolia, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Mr. Wilson was born June 13, 1914, in Columbia County, AR, to Leon and Dera Booth Wilson. He passed away June 22, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Wilson was employed as a field gauger for Ashland Oil. He was a longtime member of Vidalia Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Jones Wilson, whom he married on July 26, 1936; his parents; sister, Dessie Mae Beene Summer; and two brothers, Homer Wilson and Drew Wilson.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was loved by all who knew him and the family wishes to thank his family at Magnolia House and his wonderful caregivers.

Pallbearers were his nephews.
