Mayor Hyram Copeland said at presstime today (Wednesday) that a company committed Tuesday to building a 36,000-sq. ft. plant in the industrial park with plans to create 400 jobs in 10 years.

"We are finalizing the plans and can't name the company yet but will very soon," said Copeland. "This is very exciting and great for Vidalia and this region."

Heather Malone, Concordia Economic & Industrial Development Director, said this "is a fast-moving project. They are hoping to have a building up in eight to 10 months."

Copeland said paperwork is now underway.

"They told us to proceed yesterday," said Copeland.
