Melvin Montgomery Funeral services for Melvin L. Montgomery, 47, of Ferriday will be held Saturday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. L.B. Oliver officiating.
Burial will be at the St. James Baptist Church cemetery in Frogmore under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 24, at the funeral home.
Mr. Montgomery died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in Ferriday.
He was a longtime employee of the Concordia Sentinel, and also worked as a nurses aide at Riverland Medical Center and as a sitter for numerous senior citizens in the community.
He was a Baptist and the son of the late Essie Green Alexander and Herman Bowie. He was born Sept. 4, 1961, in Frogmore.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael.
Survivors include his brothers, Mickey Ray, Herman Lee and Ernest Durrell; two aunts, Willie Mae Leonard and Ruby L. Wesley; five uncles; numerous cousins and nephews; and two special caretakers, Daisy Leonard of Ferriday and Mattie Washington of Roxie, Miss.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. |
