Rains benefit soybeans, cotton "It's a welcome sight," County Glen Daniels said of the rain that fell in Concordia and surrounding area on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"From Tuesday through early this morning (Wednesday) I recorded around 2.2 inches in my gauge at Ferriday," said Daniels.
He said the rain will help late-planted soybeans and cotton, particularly dryland cotton.
"It will help fill out the pods and bolls and may spur new growth on the cotton," said Daniels. "The farmers will have to manage that new growth but the rain was needed."
He said the corn harvest should begin once the ground drys.
"The rain won't help the corn," said Daniels. "It needed this rain in June." |
