The East Central Dirt Bags played three games at the state tournament in Independence.

East Central started off the tournament with a 6-3 win over Bossier. East Central lost to Ponchatula 6-3 in its second game.East Central had to forfeit its game against host Independence on July 14 after a player was ejected, leaving East Central withnine players.

Since the pitcher had a designated hitter, that left the team with 8 men in the batting order. East Central needed another batter to fill the ninth spot.

Dixie Major rules state that a pitcher cannot bat in another player's position in that situation.
