James P. Watkins, Jr.
Funeral services for James P. Watkins, Jr., 81, of Ferriday will be held Friday, August 21, 2009, 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ferriday with Father Sklar officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. at Concordia Funeral Home with a Mass of Rosary at 5:45 p.m.
Burial will be held at National Cemetery in Natchez with full military honors.
Mr. Watkins was born November 1, 1927, in Ferriday to James and Louise Spivey Watkins. He passed away August 15, 2009, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
He was retired from the U. S. Army with over 20 years of service and served during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam era.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sherry McClain.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Whitley Watkins of Ferriday; two sons, James P. Watkins, III (Daphane) of Las Vegas, NV, Gregory C. Watkins (Jennifer) of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Tara V. Taylor (Edward) of Shalimar, FL, Deionne Jones (William) of Hawaii; two brothers, John L. Jackson of Homestead, FL, and James P. Watkins (Marie) of Silver Springs, MD; one sister, Gwendolyn Robledo of Ferriday; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. |
