Story Archives: Graham, Sikes unopposed in Ridgecrest

Graham, Sikes unopposed in Ridgecrest
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
There will be no special election in Ridgecrest in October for the position of mayor and one alderman's post after only two candidates qualified last week.

Kevin Graham, who was appointed to serve as mayor following Michael Roberts' resignation, qualified for mayor and will serve the remainder of Roberts' term after being unopposed.

Dwayne Sikes was the only candidate to qualify for the alderman's post vacated by Graham.

Qualifying for four-year terms for mayor and aldermen in Ridgecrest is slated next year. Serving as aldermen now in addition to Sikes are Doug Tisdale, Robert Maples, James Cowan and Gayle Cowan.

Meanwhile, Concordians will have only one race on the ballot on October 17th after Marcus R. Clark, a Republican from West Monroe, and Jimmy R. Faircloth Jr., a Republican from Pineville, qualified for the 4th District Supreme Court post.
