|Ferriday returning to Vidalia Jamboree|
Ferriday High is returning to the Vidalia Jamboree.
Ferriday was scheduled to go to Washington-Marion for a jamboree on August 28 with Peabody, Richwood and Washington-Marion.
The Trojans joined those teams two years ago in a rotating jamboree when then Trojan head coach James McFarland decided to pull out of the Vidalia Jamboree in which the Trojans were an annual opponent of Vidalia.
"We just thought it was time to come back together," said Ferriday High head coach Freddie Harrison. "This is what the community wants and it didn't make any sense for us not to be playing together."
The Vidalia Jamboree kicks off on Saturday, August 29.
Block High School will face Tensas Parish High School at 6 p.m. for two quarters.
Ferriday will face Madison Parish for two quarters in the second contest.
Vidalia will face Delhi Charter for two quarters in the final game of the night.
Admission to the jamboree is $5.
"This will give us an opportunity to see Vidalia and Block," Harrison said. "And there's more enthusiasm any time you play Vidalia."
Viking head coach Dee Faircloth said Ferriday returning will mean a bigger gate.
"This is the way it should be," Faircloth said. "We're excited to have them back."
Ferriday is hosting Jackson High School Friday in a scrimmage that is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
Vidalia High is hosting Buckeye Friday in a scrimmage that will begin at 6 p.m.
"We're dealing with a number of injuries right now," Faircloth said. "We just need to get everyone back healthy."
Vidalia opens its season at home on September 5 against Block High.
Ferriday hosts Natchez High in its season-opener on September 5. It will be the first meeting during the regular season between both schools. The two teams met in a jamboree last season.
