Trinity kicks off with win
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Trinity Episcopal scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and added two more in the second as the top-ranked Saints cruised past Prairie View 48-7 in their season-opener at Bastrop.

The Saints came out of the gate fast as Givonni Dent connected with Kent King on a 14-yard scoring play with 10:12 remaining in the opening period. Chas Moroney added one of his four PAT kicks.

R.J. Fleming caught a 44-yard scoring pass from Dent and returned a punt 89 yards before Jordan Dossett went in from one yard out and Dent and Brandon Daggs teamed up on a 34-yard pass play to put the Saints up 35-7 at halftime.

King added a 61-yard run and Fleming an 80-yard punt return for a score in the third period.

Trinity hosts East Rankin Friday in the first of three straight home contests, including a district game with Briarfield on Sept. 4.
