Story Archives: Tensas passes by Christian Collegiate

Tensas passes by Christian Collegiate
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Tensas Academy kicked off the season on a positive note as the Chiefs defeated Christian Collegiate 54-26 in Gulfport.

Jon-Truman James passed for six touchdowns in the contest.

"They were rushing five and dropping three, so when we had time to throw we had receivers open," said Tensas coach Joe Coats.

The contest was played on a regulation 8-man field, 80 yards by 40 yards.

"It was different kicking off because we were trying to pin the ball on the sideline, but otherwise there was not a lot of difference," Coats said.

Tensas plays Calvary in Meridian Friday.

Tensas won their regular season contest against Calvary last season, but fell to the Cougars in the championship game.

"We're anxious to see how we match up," Coats said. "We need to try and score on every possession and stop them a couple of times."
