Huntington travels to Claiborne

Huntington School seeks its first win of the season as the Hounds travel to Claiborne Academy in Haynesville to take on the Class 2A Rebels.

"We need a win to help build some morale," said Huntington coach Chad Harkins after his team's 53-27 season-opening home loss to Central Private. "Our most important games are our district games, but we don't like losing any game. We need to get some momentum going and have something positive happen this Friday."

Claiborne dropped its first game to district rival Glenbrook, 48-28. Glenbrook played for the Class A state championship last year, losing to DeSoto.

"Clairborne is better than they were last year," Harkins said. "They were only trailing Glenbrook 21-7 at halftime."

Claiborne scored in the first quarter and was driving late in the second before an interception inside Apache territory led to a Glenbrook touchdown just before the half.

Claiborne's two scores in the final period came on a TD runs by Zack Ruple adn Cooper Suggs.

Claiborne uses a wing-T formation, but occasionally jumped to a shotgun."They moved the ball on Claiborne," Harkins said. "They don't have a lot of speed."
