ACCS falls to Hillcrest
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Adams County Christian School fans were thinking upset after Brandon Sanders raced 79 yards on the first play from scrimmage, but the Rebels would be unable to hold on, falling to Hillcrest 28-12 in Jackson Friday.

But unfortunately the Rebels would get a bad case of the turnovers.

"Have you ever been in a room where someone yawns and everybody starts to yawn,"? asked AC coach Paul Hayles. "That's what it was like in fumbles for us. We had four different backs fumble, fumbled the ball nine times and lost it five times."

Sanders led the Rebels' ground game with 13 carries for 129 yards.

ACCS scored in the fourth quarter on a 33-yard pass from Kent Yates to Lee Swinney.

Yates went 8-of-21 passing for 135 yards.

Bryce Murray led the Rebels' special teams with three kickoff returns for 104 yards to go with two punt returns for 47 yards.

ACCS hosts Amite School Center Friday.

"We have to stop the run," Hayles said. "They have a quarterback with a good arm, but they are going to run the ball first. Offensively, we have to hang on to the football."
