Trinity Episcopal improved to 2-0 on the season with a 25-16 win over East Rankin Friday in Natchez.

"East Rankin had a bunch of good athletes," said Trinity coach David King. "It was a good win for us over a triple-A team."

Trinity scored on its opening possession as R.J. Fleming broke loose on a 51-yard socring run.

Chas Moroney added to the lead with a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Laeading 12-6, Fleming passed 40 yards to Kent King to increase the Saint lead to 18-6.

Trinity's final score of the first half came on a 19-yard TD pass from Fleming to Givonni Dent. Moroney added the extra point. The only scoring in the second half came on a 1-yard run by East Rankin's Jake Belt.

Trinity hosts Briarfied in its district opener.

"This is a very important game for us," King said. "You lose your first district game and you are behind the 8-ball. Briarfield is always scrappy and they have a quarterback and running back who are both very elusive. And they always play us hard."
