DOTD announces local road projects

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling more than $85 million at its July 29 public bid opening, according to Gov. Bobby Jindal and DOTD Secretary William D. Ankner, Ph.D.

With a bid of $51,314,556.07, Johnson Bros. Corp/F. Miller Joint Venture, Orlando, Fla., was the low bidder on the most expensive job let July 29, a project in Jefferson Parish calling for installing drainage pipe, asphalt overlay, installing a concrete girder span bridge and related work to replace the Caminada Bay Bridge on La. 1.

Other projects awarded are listed below by parish, description, contractor and bid:

Catahoula, Concordia -- Asphalt overlay, sealing asphalt pavement and related work on the northbound lanes of U.S. 425 from U.S. 65 to Foules, D & J Construction Co. Inc., West Monroe, $1,731,423.63.

Franklin -- Asphalt overlay, pavement widening and related work on La. 17 from La. 577 South to La. 860, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $2,788,417.15.
