Funeral services for Maidie Lee Ezell Dawson, 83, of Ferriday were held today, Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 10 a.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday.

Burial followed at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dawson was born March 7, 1926, in Gilbert to Jody and Mamie F. Ezell. She passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009, in Ferriday.

She had been a resident of Concordia Parish for 57 years and she was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer R. Dawson; daughter, Maudie Margie Dawson; and three sisters.

Survivors include six children: Joe Dawson of Atlanta, GA, Evelyn Marie Pounds of Tensas Parish, James E. Dawson of Jonesville, Maidie Louise Evans of Vidalia, Mable Patricia Reeves of Ferriday, and Lanny Wayne Dawson of Natchez; 29 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Carrie Jo Shows; and a nephew, Johnny LaCroix.

Pallbearers were James Dawson, Jr., Michael Dawson, Brock Wesberry, James Denny, Ronnie Cupstid, and Donnie Cupstid Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
