Ferriday visits Block

Bragging rights are on the line as Ferriday High visits Block High in Jonesville Friday.

Ferriday fell to Natchez 12-6 Friday, while Block defeated Vidalia 35-0.

Ferriday plays at Vidalia on September 18.

"It seems like all I am doing is playing my good friends," said Ferriday coach Freddie Harrison. "Coach (Lance) Reed of Natchez is a good friend of mine and Coach (Benny) Vault of Block and Coach (Dee) Faircloth are real good friends. Hopefully I will be able to brag against one of them."

Block's win over Vidalia Friday was only its second victory over the Vikings since 1985.

The Bears defeated Ferriday 12-6 last year, its fourth win over the Trojans since 1980.

Block has a real good football team," Harrison said. "We've got a little virus going around the football team, so hopefully we can get rid of that."

Vault said his team needs more work on its conditioning.

"We've still got some improving to do and we need to get in better game shape," he said. "We know Ferriday is fast and physical. This one is for all the bragging rights."

Harrison said Block has a lot of weapons.

"They use the two tight ends in the double wing and utilize a lot of people on offense," Harrison said. "Coach Vault always has them well prepared. Turnovers is going to be a key as well as time of possession because they like to keep it a while. We have to get our defense off the field and do what it takes to win on offense."
