AC upends WCCA Rusty Blackwell scored on an 11-yard run with 2:50 remaining to give Adams County Christian School a 28-21 win over Wilkinson County Christian Academy Friday at ACCS.
The contest was the MAIS District 5-AA opener for both teams.
"We tried to give it away with our turnovers," said AC coach Paul Hayles. "But it was a big win for our program. The kids have played hard all year and I'm excited to see them having success."
Bryce Murray intercepted a pass with 1:42 remaining to seal the Rebel victory.
Brandon Sanders rushing for 206 of them on 27 carries, including a 30-yard run for the Rebels' first score of the game and a 23-yard TD run in the third period.
Murray added a 29-yard scoring run in the first quarter.
ACCS plays at Prairie View Friday. The Rebels' lone win last season came against the Bastrop team.
"They have a very good ball club," Hayles said. "They are always scrappy and play us hard. We have to be ready because it's going to be a big challenge for us." |
