Tensas blanks Franklin

Franklin Academy coach Doyle Hassell knew his team would have its hands full against Tensas Academy Friday night in Winnsboro. The Chiefs proved him right with a 40-0 win over the Cougars.

Franklin Academy fell to 2-3 on the season

The Chiefs played for the 8-man championship last year, losing to Calvary.

"They are a good football team, and they have what it takes to win a lot of games this year," Hassell said. "They smelled blood and they came after us."

I had to bring up three seventh-graders just have have 15 out there. We didn't have a full set of starters all week."

Quarterback Colton Monnin suffered a concussion midway through the fisrt quarter.

Franklin's game with Kemper scheduled for Friday was cancelled before the season.

The Cougars will play at Rebul on October 2.

"We need the time off," Hassell said. "Hopefully we can get some players back."
