Ferriday Garden Club awarded grant The Ferriday Garden Club has been chosen to receive a Community Partnership Grant from Entergy Corporation.
The $1,000 grant is the maximum given for a non-profit organization. The money will allow the club to mount a permanent sign on the brick wall at The Bayou Memorial Park that holds the historic Louisiana flags.
The sign will have the names of the community heroes represented by the 55 memorial flags.
The club received a $1,000 grant from Entergy last year which allowed the club to put the name of the park on the same brick wall.
Entergy awards these types of grants to organizations that have projects that effectively impact arts and culture, community improvement and enrichment, education and literacy or promote healthy families.
One of the criteria is the applicant must be located in an area that Entergy services. Each organization must submit only one application per year for a Community Partnership Grant.
The Ferriday Garden club has received cooperation in the establishment of the Bayou Memorial Park from local civic clubs, businesses, the Town of Ferriday, the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Ferriday.
The FGC still considers the park a work in progress as they have other plans to enhance and maintain the park. |
