Trinity outlasts Central Private
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Trinity Episcopal used two interception returns for touchdowns in the final two minutes to defeat Central Private 40-19 Friday in Natchez in a game that was nip-and-tuck until late in the final period.

"That was one of the best ballgames in regular season I have been associated with in quite a while," said Trinity coach David King. "But that's why we made this schedule."

R.J. Fleming returned an interception 82 yards for a score, while Givonni Dent made it deja vu on the Rebels' next possession with a 35-yard pick for a score.

The Saints got on the board on their first drive with Dent passed to Fleming on a 16-yard scoring play.

Dent teamed up with Brandon Daggs on Trinity's next possession for a TD pass.

Dent and Fleming teamed up on a 47-yard scoring pass play on Trinity's next possession.

Dent passed for 236 yards in the contest, while Fleming had 59 of those receiving and added 67 rushing.

Trinity plays at River Oaks Friday.

"Robert Hannah has a great program up there and we have had some competitive games in the past," King said. "They have already clinched their district in 2A. We need to get ready for another battle and just continue to get better each week."
