Story Archives: AC runs past Riverdale

AC runs past Riverdale

Adams County Christian School looked like the teams of the past that played for the man the field is named after as the Rebels whipped Riverdale 53-14 to celebrate Homecoming.

Former ACCS head coach Bobby Marks had to be smiling wide as the Rebels rushed for 369 yards to give his former pupil, Paul Hayles, his fifth win in seven outings.

"I'm just happy for the kids after what they have been through, especially being able to win on Homecoming," Hayles said. "But we still have a lot of work ahead of us and some tough games."

Brandon Sanders scored two touchdowns on his first two carries in the first half and added another touchdown on his first carry in the second half, finishing with 207 yards on the ground.

"Brandon was sick all week and we were just going to see what we could get out of him," Hayles said. "On the first play he broke off a long run and ran right over the safety that set the tone for the rest of the game. He had three long runs on the night and nine total. We definitely got what we wanted out of him."
