Supreme Court election Saturday Concordia voters will go to the polls on Saturday to help elect a Supreme Court judge in what is expected to be an exceptionally low turnout in the 20-parish District 4.
Voters have one of two choices -- Judge Marcus R. Clark of West Monroe or attorney Jimmy Faircloth Jr. of Pineville -- each vying to fill the vacated seat of Justice Chet Traylor of Winnsboro. Traylor retired from the bench in late May after a 12-year stint on the state high court.
Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber said he looks for the voter turnout to be 10 percent or less. He said polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. and that despite the expected low turnout two voting machines will be located at each precinct.
The Registrar of Voters reported 61 in-person and mail early votes on Tuesday with 13,729 voters eligible to cast ballots for Saturday's referendum.
Supreme Court District 4 includes Bienville, Caldwell, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland, Tensas, Union, West Carroll and Winn. |
