Story Archives: ACCS hosts Manchester

ACCS hosts Manchester
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Adams County Christian School head coach Paul Hayles knew his team faced a tall order in trying to upset two-time defending AA state champion Centreville.

Falling behind 21-0 made the task even more difficult as the Tigers tuned up for another run wtih a 35-12 win over the Rebels.

ACCS (5-5, 1-3) scored its only points in the third quarter on touchdown runs of six and seven yards by Dillon Johnson.

The Rebels face Manchester Academy at home Friday for Senior Night in its final MAIS District 5-AA contest of the season.

The Rebels can still make the playoffs if they beat Manchester Friday at home and Wilkinson County Christian Academy upsets Silliman.

The ironic situation for Hayles is that Hayles coached at Wilkinson County Christian School before taking over as head coach at ACCS, where he played for former Rebel coach Bobby Marks.

"We have to take care of our end," Hayles said. "Manchester won their last two games and you look at those two games and wonder how they didn't win any before that. They have an outstanding quarterback who can run and pass the ball. They seem to have found the right gear and we have to try and find a way to put them in neutral."

Friday's game is Senior Night.

"Our seniors have shown great leadership all year and I expect them to do the same Friday," Hayles said.
