Story Archives: Cathedral stays in playoff hunt

Cathedral stays in playoff hunt
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Cathedral High outscored Bogue Chitto 34-24 Friday to remain in the hunt for a playoff spot.

"That was definitely our best game, especially the first half," said Cathedral coach Craig Beesley. "We needed that type of game. The kids have played hard all year and never given up."

Charles Lee scored twice on the ground and once on a pass from Dylan White to lead the Green Wave offense, which struggled early in the season.

White connected with Lee on a 6-yard pass play to start the scoring before finding Daniel Huffines on a 30-yard scoring play to put the Green Wave up 14-0. Cole Mann added both conversion kicks.

Lee scored on a 68-yard touchdown runfora a 21-6 advantage.

The final scores came on a 14-yard pass from White to Hunter Foster and a 35-yard run by Lee.

Lee finished with 115 yards rushing on just six carries and White completed 11 of 14 passes with no interceptions for 169 yards.

Cathedral hosts Dexter Friday for Homecoming.

"They are fast and physical up front," Beesley said. "They have a lot of playmakers on the field. It's going to take another great effort."
