Tensas upends Franklin
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Tensas used a 55-yard touchdown pass by Jon-Truman James to Austin Emfinger on the first play of the second half and an 85-yard fumble return by David Leake to defeat Franklin Academy 34-6 Friday at St. Joseph.

Franklin fell to 4-5 and needs Rebul Academy to beat Mt. Salus by 4-to-8 points to make the playoffs.

Tensas, which will advance to the playoffs for the second straight year, defeated Franklin 40-0 in their first meeting.

Tensas will host the North second place team on Nov. 6.

The Chiefs host Christian Collegiate in their regular season finale Friday.

Franklin is in its first year of 8-man football.

"The kids played hard," said Franklin coach Doyle Hassell. "It was one of those things where when you are overmatched, you are overmatched. But it was only 12-6 at halftime and those two big plays took the air out of us."

Franklin Academy has an open date this Friday, so the Cougars will be eagerly awaiting the results of the Rebul-Mt. Salus contest.
