School solicitations should be verified Businesses are being asked to contact school principals to verify whether solicitations being made on behalf of schools are authorized.
"We have been having some issues with various groups or parents soliciting money or items from local businesses on behalf of the schools," said Dr. Paul E. Nelson, Director of Academic Affairs for the Concordia Parish School Board. "Many times these solicitations have not been approved by the school principal."
As a safeguard, Nelson said, "We are asking that all businesses verify with the school principal that the solicitations are in fact authorized by the school principal before making any kind of contribution. We certainly appreciate the support of the business community, but need to make sure that these types of things are handled properly. "
