J. W. Pruitt Graveside funeral services for Mr. J. W. Pruitt, 88, of New Era were held Monday, November 2, 2009, 3 p.m., at New Era Baptist Church with Bro. Russell Crum and Bro. Scott Ensminger officiating.
Interment followed at New Era Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Pruitt was born September 29, 1921, in New Era and passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009, in New Era.
He worked in oilfield construction and as a mechanic at Scotties Auto in Monterey. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joly Pruitt; mother, Susie Hedrick Pruitt; father, John Jerome Pruitt; grandson, Lee Dale Jr.; son-in-law, Scottie Ensminger; brothers, Barney Pruitt and Edward Pruitt; sisters, Bessie Pease, Laura Felder, Ola Frazier and Vera Flaherty.
Survivors include stepchildren Coleen Ensminger of Monterey, Lee Dale and wife, Joyce, of New Era, Lane Dale and wife, Felicia, of New Era, Joe Dale and wife, Patrice, of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Scott and Kim Ensminger, Michael Ensminger, Jared Ensminger, Brian and Nikki Dale, Rory and Tara, Christopher Dale, Logan Dale, Hanna and Justin Duhan, and Steven "Bubba" Dale. Also surviving are 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brian Dale, Jared Ensminger, Steven "Bubba" Dale, Michael Ensminger, Rory Dale and Christopher Dale.
Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Dean Burnette, Winston Flaherty, Byron Pruitt, Milton Sanders and W. L. Paul. |
