Fatal crash in Catahoula Parish One man was killed early Friday and another injured when their vehicle collided with another vehicle.
Troopers responded to the crash around 11:30 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 124 north of Jonesville. The crash involved a 1992 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Quenton M. Randall, 43, of Harrisonburg, and a 2006 Ford pickup, driven by a juvenile.
The Chevrolet was north bound on LA Hwy 124 when Randall lost control on the wet roadway and crossed the centerline. After crossing the centerline, the Chevrolet collided with the south bound Ford.
Randall was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. His only passenger, identified as his mother, Robbie Brown, 71, of Harrisonburg, received moderate injuries. She was transported to LaSalle General Hospital for treatment.
The juvenile was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending.
Troop E Troopers have investigated 60 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 71 fatalities. Thirty-eight of the 50 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. It is unknown if the deceased was wearing a seatbelt in one crash.
Five crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle. |
