Closings Friday on Clayton, Sicily Island projects Officials with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality will be in Clayton, Sicily Island, Urania and West Monroe on Friday for loan closings and principal forgiveness on sewer projects.
These signings will be the first of 55 statewide for projects funded through the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and administered through DEQ's Clean Water Revolving Fund.
"We're not set up to do grants," said Jonathan McFarland of DEQ. "We call this principal forgiveness. It's just another way of saying the same thing."
The Ferriday engineering firm of Bryant Hammett & Associates is handling three of the projects scheduled for loan closings on Friday -- Sicily Island, Clayton and Urania.
DEQ's schedule Friday follows:
9:15 a.m.: Urania, $1,581,642, replacement of wastewater treatment plant.
11:15 a.m.: West Monroe, $4,750,000, construction of portions of a treatment facility to recycle wastewater which will reduce the drawdown from the Sparta Aquifer.
2 p.m.: Sicily Island (town hall), $525,992, collection system and wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation.
3 p.m.: Clayton (town hall), $527,651, collection system rehabilitation
The public is invited to attend. |
