More marina funding for Vidalia The City of Vidalia announced Tuesday at the regular council meeting that the city will receive additional funding for first phase construction of the marina.
City Manager Ken Walker advised that the city would receive an additional $110,000 grant from the Louisiana Department of Parks and Recreation to enhance the boat launch facility south of the bridge.
This money will up total project funding to more than $400,000. Walker said enhancement plans could include a boat washing facility and a water fountain.
The first phase of the project includes construction of the boat ramp, widening of an existing parking lot and the lowering of the riverwalk to allow easier access.
The boat ramp will serve local and regional fishermen and boaters.
The second phase of the marina's construction will be the construction of a docking station and the proposed third phase calls for more docking space on the riverfront.
In other business, the council approved participation in the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant Program for 2010-2011. Funding from the program has been used for overhaul of the city's sewer infrastructure.
The following occupational licenses were approved:
-Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic, David Alan Timm, M.D., 806 Carter St.
-Brer Rabbit Excursions, 600 Carter St., Marvin Ellerbe. |
