Tensas faces Calvary Christian
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Last year Tensas Academy defeated Calvary Christian during the regular season, but lost to the Cougars for the 8-man football championship.

Calvary defeated Tensas 92-68 during the regular season.

The two teams meet again Thursday at 10 a.m. at Mississippi College in Clinton to decide the championship.

The Cougars dress out 30 players, including 12 seniors.

Tensas, in its seocnd year of 8-man football, has 10 sophomores who make up most of their team.

"We're hoping our sophomores got enough game experience during the year and have improved enough to make a difference," said Tensas coach Joe Coats.

Tensas defeated Central of Macon 70-6 last week to reach its second straight final.

"The kids are excited," Coats said. "That's a great environment. We played on that turf against Mt. Salus and really like it. As for the 10 a.m. kickoff, it's different, but once we kick it off they should get acclimated to it. We just have to take advantage of our possessions and get some stops somewhere."
