School Board views financial matters The Concordia Parish School Board made several financial decisions during its regular meeting Thursday night, including:
• The junior high and high schools will receive an increase in student allotment, including a $5 hike per junior high student and a $10 increase per high school student.
• The dispensation of the 13th check was determined as follows: Full time employees will receive an increase of $600, while part-time will receive an increase of $300
• On retiree hospitalization: A reimbursable rate increase for hospitalization insurance for all current and future retirees was granted, maintaining Office of Group Benefits coverage, to be effective January 1, 2009.
Retirees who have 25 or more years of service in Concordia Parish are to receive 100 percent of the benefit that is to fully fund the employees share of the insurance based on the current OGB vested rates at the time of this passage.
Retirees with 20 to 24 years of service in Concordia Parish are to receive 75 percent, while retirees with less than 20 years of service in Concordia Parish are to receive $25 per month toward the cost of their OGB hospital insurance benefits.
Meanwhile, Business Manager Tom O'Neal assured board members that no building contractors will be paid for foundation repair work at Ferriday Junior High or Ferriday Upper until ruts are properly filled on the grounds as provided in the contracts for the work.
In other business, the board:
-- Authorized the payment of invoices for October totaling $3,207,881.
-- Awarded the low bid of $8,500 from Curtis Wrecking Service, pending proof of insurance, for tree cutting services.
