Taking a look at the movie scene
It's that time.
You guessed it. Holiday movies. But not the ones you've been seeing trailors for while your favorite football team is standing around waiting for the commercials to end.
This is another look at upcoming movies and recently-released DVDs (which reminds me, I mentioned something about 8-tracks to my son the other day and he looked at me like the RCA dog. And then I had to explain vinyl albums to him).
Of course it would be too easy to pick on the Southeastern Conference officials with the movies that are out there now.
The Blind Side certainly comes to mind.
But actually, there is another movie about our favorite guys in stripes. This movie is a documentary on how SEC officials are recruited.
The name of the movie is The Men Who Stare at Goats.
Well, I certainly wasn't going to pick Law Abiding Citizens.
On to the rest of the movies as soon as I can fish out this popcorn shell from in-between my keyboards:
Disney's A Christmas Carol: This is a different twist on the ol' Scrooge tale. Brett Favre comes back to Green Bay in a Minnesota uniform.
By the way, I may have to borrow some money from Brett. I just bought two Cokes and a large popcorn.
2012: A look into the future. The New York Yankees win the World Series behind Joe Torre; the New England Patriots win the Super Bowl, Florida is the national champion in football while North Carolina wins the NCAA Final Four and the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA championship. Yes, it's a remake.
Michael Jackson's This Is It - Part II: Ok, looking a little ahead. Charles Barkley plays the role of the music superstar. Well, at least he doesn't have to swing a golf club.
The Fourth Kind: The story of Archibald Manning. the son of Eli Manning who gets drafted by the Detroit Lions but demands to play for the New York Giants, then signs with the New York Yankees, and ends up with a World Series ring and Super Bowl ring. A warning - it has a sad ending. Poor Archie the first ends up in a senior citizen's home because of all the travel involved in following his sons and grandsons.
Paranormal Activity: Follows the off the field adventures of Jeremy Shockey.
Where the Wild Things Are: Follows the off the court adventures of Bill Walton when he was at UCLA. Not that he knew he was at UCLA at the time.
Slumdog Millionaire: Bob Weiss takes over the Notre Dame team.
The Ugly Truth: The story of how the Notre Dame job came open and nobody wanted it.
The Uninvited: Southern California gets a BCS spot.
Pirate Radio: A story of how Barry Bonds gets back into baseball.
Aliens in the Attic: The story of Tim Tebow's offspring. Let's face it, the guy is out of this world.
Land of the Lost: A day in the life of Lou Holtz and Terry Bradshaw.
Iron Man 2: Follows the childhood of Brett Favre.
The Proposal: Lebron James listens to offers from the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Orlando Magic and The New Jersey Nets.
Hangover: Andre Agassi describes winning the U.S. Open and Wimbledon.
Couples Retreat: Follows Les Miles and Gary Crowton during the offseason.
Terminator Salvation: What happens when anyone talks about SEC referees. Mike Slive is playing the part of The Terminator.
Imagine that: A story about Brett Favre (I'm going to get him that Oscar somehow this year) coming out of retirement and leading the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC Championship Game. Of course, they lose to the New Orleans Saints. Hey, if I'm making the movie I'm making it good.
Twilight: The New Orleans Saints win the Super Bowl. Turn out the lights, the party's over. Everybody pack up. |
