Funeral services for Albert Ayers Forrester, Sr., 90, of Ferriday will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009, 11 a.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday. Rev. Ray Varnado will officiate.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Morris Cemetery in Franklinton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held 9 a.m. Saturday until time of service.

Mr. Forrester was born January 19, 1919, in Teague, TX, the son of Ayers and Jennie A. Forrester. He passed away Monday, November 23, 2009, in Alexandria.

Mr. Forrester had been a resident of Ferriday since 1984 and a member of the Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church where he previously served on the church board. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army Air Corp as a 1st Lieutenant in the 95th Bomb Squad 8th Air. He flew 35 missions over Germany and received a Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and a medal from the Russian government. He was a retired landman and also was the manager of Concordia Electric. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen "Kitty" Welch Forrester; and a brother, Herman Forrester.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice Ann Forrester Hunter and her husband, Hillman Edward "Eddie" Hunter of Tulsa, OK; sons, Leo Forrester of Ferriday and Albert Ayers Forrester, Jr., and wife, Sallie Allen Forrester of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Renee Hunter Herndon of Broken Arrow, OK, Benjamin Forrester and Julia Forrester, both of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, and Taylor Herndon; sister-in-law, Anna Forrester of Fredricksburg, TX; and nephews, Ronnie and Joe Ed Forrester.

Pallbearers will be Bill Colvin, Billy Rucker, Myles Hopkins, Buddy Tanner, John Rife and John Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Anders, Bubba Gremillion, Glen Gremillion, Billy Harris, Tom Milliken, Bob Strozier, Clint Vegas and Richard White.
