Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Cook, 88, of Ferriday will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday Thursday, December 3, 2009, 12 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cook was born in Springdale, AR, on December 27, 1920. She passed away in her home on Monday, November 30, 2009.

She was married to the late James F. Cook, Sr., in Panola County, MS, on January 30, 1946. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ferriday and the Ferriday Community Service Club. She and her family moved to Ferriday in 1956 where she lived the rest of her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James F. Cook, Sr.; mother, Evanda Miller Phillips; father, Ernest C. Phillips; and a sister, Doris Raspberry of Natchez.

Survivors included daughters, Fontaine Gremillion and husband, Glenn, of Ferriday, Joan Newton and husband, Bill, of Charlotte, NC, Paula Rawson and husband, Tony, of Pineville; son, James F. "Bo" Cook, Jr., and wife, Dina, of Atlanta, GA; sister, Mona Martien of Natchez; brother, Ernest Phillips and wife, Linda, of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Shannon, and Bradley Gremillion, Savannah Newton, Josh and Jordan Rawson, Virginia, Stacey and James Cook, III; and four great-grandchildren, Christian, Aldyn, Reese and Anne Marlowe.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Gremillion, Shannon Gremillion, Bradley Gremillion, Josh Rawson, James F. Cook III, and Robert Raspberry.

The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Thursday, December 3, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
