Vidalia High's boys rebounded from two tough losses at the Sportsmed Shootout in Huntsville, Al., last week, trouncing Lake Providence 104-55.

"We needed that," said Vidalia coach Robert Sanders, whose team lost to two of the top teams in Alabama last week. "We actually had a tough time with Lake Providence in the Tensas Parish Tournament, but defended the perimeter much better and did a better job on our full court press to keep them from setting up."

Vidalia jumped on the Panthers early, outscoring Lake Providence 29-11 in the opening period as Torrey Dixon dominated inside.

Vidaila extended its lead to 52-30 at halftime.

Dixon led the way with 35 points.

"Torrey did a great job controlling the inside," Sanders said.

Vidalia outscored Lake Providence 31-13 in the final period.

"I was really pleasantly surprised with our guys off the bench," Sanders said. "That can only help us down the road. We still have a lot of work to do and we just need to get back to the basics."

D.J. Polk scored 20 for Vidalia, while Quartrell Thomas netted 13.

Vidalia's girls fell to Lake Providence 53-21.

Gabby Wagoner led Vidalia with nine points.

Vidalia hosts its annual Ronnie Brown Memorial Tournament Thursday throught Saturday.
