Huntington sweeps Central Huntington School swept a pair of games from Central Academy of Grand Cane, as the Hound boys won 74-46, while the Lady Hounds were 44-41 winners.
Huntington's boys led 21-9 after one period and 48-20 at halftime.
Kevin Brown led Huntington with 29 points, while Blaine Fletcher added 11. Matthew Humphries netted 10, while Garrett Vinson scored nine and Jeremiah Powell added eight.
Huntington's girls led 12-8 after one period and 21-18 at halftime.
Kristen Havard netted 14 for Huntington, while Abi Brown and Allie Boothe added 12 and 9, respectively.
"As each game goes on we're getting better and better," said Huntington coach Edwin White. "They are starting to see and understand what we are trying to do. It certainly helps when you can get wins. But it's a matter of getting used to the philosophy."
Huntington dropped a pair of games to Adams County Christian School Thursday.
The Huntington boys turned the ball over early, trailing 11-3 after one period.
AC led 31-17 at halftime.
AC outscored Huntington 19-14 in the third period and with only two players remaining at the end of the game because of fouls, were outscored 17-9 in the final period.
Huntington was led by Kevin Brown with 13 points.
AC's girls led Huntington 17-6 after one period and 31-10 at halftime on their way to a 52-14 win over the Lady Hounds.
Abi Brown led Huntington with five points.
Huntington hosts Chamberlain-Hunt Friday and travels to Prairie View on Saturday. The Hounds play at Amite Tuesday. |
