Roger Allison Killingsworth Funeral services for Roger Allison Killingsworth were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church, 357 Windermere Blvd, Alexandria. Rev. Julia Nance-Ferrell and Rev. Jimmie Pyles officiated.
Visitation was be held between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the church. Interment was held at Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Roger Killingsworth passed away at home on December 15, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret Smith Killingsworth; his daughter, Margaret Granville Killingsworth; his son, Roger Allison Killingsworth, Jr., and by seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Roger was born October 25, 1921 near Lorman, Mississippi. He was a 1944 graduate of Texas A &M University, a 32 degree Mason, and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.
Upon graduation from Texas A & M University Roger returned to his home in Chatfield, Arkansas first to assist, then to be responsible for the management of Mallory Farms, a cotton plantation. In the early 1960's he moved to Jonesville, Louisiana to manage the development of Louisiana Delta Plantation. In 1970 he established Killingsworth & Associates, an independent agricultural consulting, farm management, brokerage and appraisal firm providing services for banks, development companies, international consortia, and private land owners from Texas to North Carolina. He was a member of the American Society of Agricultural Consultants and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Flying was not only a business necessity but a favorite hobby.
He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Jonesville for more than 35 years where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, Clerk of Session, and treasurer.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Pines Presbytery Disaster Relief Fund or the Presbytery of South Louisiana Disaster Relief Fund in care of the First Presbyterian Church, 357 Windermere Blvd, Alexandria, LA 71303. |
