The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent pit bull attack that occurred Monday morning when a male pit bull reportedly bit a 22-year-old Natchez woman as she was walking toward the Country Estates Trailer Park off of Highway 84 near Vidalia.

According to reports, the woman sustained bites on the upper left arm and on her right thigh. She was transported to an area hospital by the Vidalia Ambulance Service.

The Vidalia Police Department's animal control officer picked the dog up to be held for observation.

According to CPSO Sgt. Todd Ainsworth, the dog was apparently chained at his owner's Highway 84 residence, but had broken off of his chain.

Ainsworth said the state health department has been notified of the incident, and it's unknown at this time if charges will be filed against the dog's owner.
